Before the ink is dry on my temporary CFI license I will start teaching my first students Monday.

Studying to teach

Someday I will put something on my office wall. In the meantime, I am
busy studying for my test July 7th.

It's a small world

It was a good day of studying and taking in the scenery. I also received the official word that I will be switching/adding the responsibility of teaching flight next month. I will have my first four flight students starting in July. That adds a healthy dose of encouragement to pass my tests. I will keep you posted. Until then, enjoy the view.

Flying over Spokane

I am almost done preparing for my flight instructor test. Today I studied in the back of a 206 while a student flew a cross country around northern Washington. I take my first two written tests on Monday.

Commissioning service

Last week we had graduation and the commissioning service for the class of 2011.  Many parents, relatives and friends came out to celebrate.  It was joyful and somber as we reflected on many years of hard work, rejoiced over the excitement of finishing and looked forward to the challenges ahead.

This is the graduating class. Many of them have worked hard to get here for 5 years. Some have been at it for as many as 10 years. It is exciting to see them complete their training here at Moody and move on as Godly men equipped both with technical skills and hearts of service.

Graduation is coming...

Today we spent the whole day cleaning. Both in an effort to keep costs
low and build character, we do all our own cleaning and maintenance of
the facilities. Staff and students spent the day waxing floors,
dusting shelves, disinfecting keyboards and trimming the bushes
outside. The place will look great for graduation Saturday.

Avery loves coming to work to see the airplanes. Come over for a visit

Half way there

I am at the half-way point towards completing my flight instructor training. I snapped this photo of Banks lake on a recent flight.

Low airwork

CFI has been going very well. We are about a quarter of the way
through the flights. This is the ground track from a recent flight. We
record the gps track of most flights for review and analysis in google
earth. It has become a very helpful tool for instruction.

Avery's flight training

Avery had a blast riding this super cool swing at one of the
instructors' house. MAF likes to brand the kids when they are young.
